Klucel ls™ 11 low-substituted hpc is a non-ionic cellulose ether with a small degree of hydroxy propoxyl groups on the cellulose backbone. It is insoluble in water and organic solvents. Klucel ls™ 11 low-substituted hpc is a multifunctional excipient, providing tablet binding and disintegration in one ingredient. Though not soluble in water, klucel ls™ 11 low-substituted hpc absorbs water and substantially swells in volume enabling rapid tablet disintegration. As a non-ionic polymer, it is compatible with a broad range of APIs and can be used in direct compression.
