Ashland’s Position on REACH

The new European REACH legislation*, and the impact it has on the future availability of chemicals, is an issue of vital importance for Ashland, our customers and the entire global chemical industry.

Ashland is a Responsible Care1 company and has a long-standing commitment to Product Stewardship and the practice of making health, safety and environmental protection an integral part of the entire life cycle of chemical products. Through this commitment to improving the protection of human health and the environment, Ashland has actively supported the objectives of REACH for many years.

As a major supplier, manufacturer, importer and purchaser of chemical substances in the European Union (EU), our first priority is to comply with the REACH regulations, as well as to ensure the supply of goods to us and our customers is not disrupted. Ashland teams are in place and committed to cooperating with our customers and suppliers to support the successful implementation of REACH. This includes coordinating the exchange of information across the supply chain – from suppliers and manufacturers to customers and end users.

The entire Ashland organization, including our operations based in Europe, Asia, the U.S. or other geographies, is committed and prepared to support the implementation of REACH as an effective legislation in the spirit of which it was designed – to protect human health and the environment by providing information across the supply chain supporting the safe use of chemicals and chemical substances.
