Laboratory Services

Our comprehensive laboratory services include the following:

Biological Services Group
This group performs routine analyses on water and deposits, including standard plate count analysis, microbiological identification and microscopic examination. Microbiocides are routinely screened to determine treatment effectiveness, and product recommendations are made for current and prospective customers. In some cases, more in-depth analysis may be required to troubleshoot sources of microbial contamination in treated systems. Biological Services also offers field service, to provide personalized customer service.

Boiler, Cleaning and Fuel Treatment Chemicals Group
This group provides product development and technical service for the boiler water treatment, cleaners and fuel treatment product lines. Boiler water treatments are formulated to prevent deposits and corrosion in boilers and steam condensate lines. Cleaners include maintenance chemicals, oil spill dispersants and rust removers.

Cooling, Waste Process and Potable Water Treatment Group
This group provides product development, technical service, manufacturing support and customer service for cooling water, mining and oxidation. This includes products that, when added to water, inhibit corrosion, prevent scale and deposit formation, disperse solids and oxidize harmful organic and inorganic compounds.

Coatings Group
This group conducts research on water-based coatings and coatings additives and supports foam control agents for water treatment. By using "real world" application methods and accelerated model test methods, we can predict the behavior of our additives in coatings, allowing us to recommend how customers can best incorporate these products to achieve superior coatings. The laboratory can also conduct simulated testing of cooling and waste waters to recommend products to eliminate foam from these systems.

Water and Deposit Analysis Group
This group provides high-volume customer service analytical support functions. In addition to water and deposits, they analyze fuel oil, ion exchange resins and corrosion coupons. Specialized activities include ultra-high-purity water analysis for utility and electronics industries, reverse osmosis membrane autopsies and scanning microscopy (SEM/EDS).

Analytical Services Group
This group provides qualitative identification, quantitative analysis and trace level contaminant analysis of customer samples, along with consultation to sales representatives on problem identification, problem redemption, analytical testing, sampling, field testing, sample handling and on-line monitoring.

Metallurgical Services Group
This group conducts failure analyses and general assessments of various metal components from steam generation, heat exchangers and cooling water systems. High temperature and corrosion-related failure mechanisms are identified through material identification, remaining wall thickness, microstructural evaluation and photographic documentation.

Pulp and Paper Group
This group engages in the development of new products and esoteric testing methodologies, application technology, and screening of products and chemical additives for effectiveness, specific product selection and recommendations. The lab's personnel are well experienced in all facets of papermaking processes and often act in an advisory capacity to help solve customers' problems.

Process Services Group
This group provides services for manufacturing, research and development, marketing, supply and distribution industries as well as for our customers. They handle maintenance of all manufacturing documents. (Semiworks and Raw Material Specification sheets), supply samples to customers and potential customers worldwide, and administer our research and development waste management program.

Laboratory Services Group
This group provides operation of pilot plant equipment for the laboratory development service groups, as well as maintenance support for new and existing PULSE® analyzer units.
