Zalta™ antiscalants
Mineral processing unavoidably provides many opportunities for insoluble salts to drop out of process water and solutions causing scale to collect on unit operation equipment. This scale consists largely of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate, but also magnesium and silicate in some instances. These scales will typically deposit out in areas where changes in water conditions such as temperature, pH or agitation occur. Pumps, concentrators, nozzles, filters, gravity circuits, carbon tank screens, strip circuits and drip emitters are all highly prone to scaling. As scale buildup occurs, pipe volume becomes restricted, reducing flow, and ultimately requires downtime for cleaning to restore productivity.
Zalta antiscalants are comprised of a variety of polymer chemistries that control and prevent scale in a wide range of mineral processing applications from process water to Merrill Crowe circuits. These products control scale by preventing initial scale formation (threshold inhibition), preventing hard scale formation by interfering with its structure (crystal modification) or by dispersing scale particles so they cannot adhere to surfaces. Based on the individual application, operating conditions and water chemistry, Ashland will recommend the ideal Zalta antiscalant to maximize your throughput and productivity while minimizing your downtime and product loss.

Corrosion Monitoring and Metallurgy
Problems related to corrosion cost commercial and industrial plants billions of dollars each year. Although a variety of means exist to inhibit corrosion, it's important to identify the root cause of the corrosion. Ashland Water Technologies’ Corrosion Monitoring and Metallurgy group provides failure analysis and assessments of steam-generating and heat-exchanger equipment. Working closely with customers, this team provides clear identification of the problem, which leads to a more rapid and effective solution. Key services provided by the group include failure analysis, corrosion coupon analysis, and elemental and compound analysis.
Customer Analytical Services
Ashland Water Technologies’ Customer Analytical Services team is dedicated to helping customers address the multitude of contaminants that can negatively impact the efficiency and reliability of their water-based systems. The team is made up of an experienced staff of analytical chemists, microbiologists and technicians and is supported by sophisticated testing equipment that provides rapid analysis and identification of contaminants beyond what may be accomplished with field-based methods. Key services provided by the team include fluid analysis, deposit analysis, microbiological analysis and metallurgical analysis.
