Research and Development

Ashland conducts primary research for Soyad adhesives at two facilities located in the United States: the Ashland Research Center in Wilmington, Delaware, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin. The Ashland Research Center is the primary site for Soyad research and development efforts. Efforts here are directed toward the discovery of new products and processes, the improvement and refinement of existing products and processes, the development of new applications for existing products, and manufacturing cost improvement initiatives. The Forest Products Laboratory, which Ashland maintains a strong partnership with, houses world-class pilot testing equipment for producing plywood, particleboard, medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and oriented strand board (OSB).

Since 2006, Ashland has been granted seven patents for wood products adhesives and has another 18 patents pending, demonstrating the company’s commitment to developing innovative solutions for interior wood products.
