Rezosol™ release aids
Rezosol release aids comprise a broad portfolio of products that allow tissue makers to effectively control adhesion in the creping process and improve sheet softness. Rezosol release aids are designed to enhance release at the Yankee cylinder and TAD fabric. The application of these release aids in conjunction with Crepetrol™ creping adhesives ensures that sheet softness, bulk and absorbency requirements are met. Delivering the optimum Yankee coating package is the primary objective of both of these technologies.
Recent R&D efforts have resulted in several new Rezosol release aids. Some recently introduced products utilize vegetable oil instead of mineral oil.
These BfR-approved products offer improved release, are readily dispersible and are fully compatible with existing coating technology. New, ester-based products that are biodegradable allow the tissue maker to modify coating rheology and enhance softness at the blade. These synthetic products also offer enhanced release as well as improved sheet softness. Newer technologies that offer even better release and improved absorbency are also available. These products are designed to increase doctor blade life (particularly ceramic blades) and felt life.

Customer Analytical Services
Ashland Water Technologies’ Customer Analytical Services team is dedicated to helping customers address the multitude of contaminants that can negatively impact the efficiency and reliability of their water-based systems. The team is made up of an experienced staff of analytical chemists, microbiologists and technicians and is supported by sophisticated testing equipment that provides rapid analysis and identification of contaminants beyond what may be accomplished with field-based methods. Key services provided by the team include fluid analysis, deposit analysis, microbiological analysis and metallurgical analysis.
Papermaking Services
Continuous pilot papermaking systems are the cornerstones of Ashland Water Technologies’ Papermaking Services group. The primary purpose of our papermaking operations is to provide papermakers with insights and solutions to problems and opportunities related to the effects of additives and system changes on wet-laid products and processes. Our facilities are equipped to conduct trials that predict commercial system performance.

Method of Application
Rezosol release aids are typically applied to the Yankee surface along with a creping adhesive, and occasionally an adhesion modifier, through the same sprayboom. The sprayboom is located after the creping blade and the cleaning blade, but before the pressure roll, using specific geometries and spray pressures to achieve optimum results.
The adhesive portion of the coating package migrates to the hot Yankee surface and produces a robust protective layer. Release aids migrate to the air surface, providing blade lubrication and the correct level of adhesion for the sheet. Adhesion modifiers control the adhesion force, enabling superior crepe within a much wider range of moisture operation.
