Polystabil™ scale inhibitors

In many industrial and municipal operations in which water flows, the formation of inorganic or mineral scales represents an imminent problem because it reduces plant efficiency. For example, thin scales on the surfaces of heat exchangers noticeably affect their efficiency and operating capacity. Likewise, scale buildup within pipes considerably reduces water flow and puts an increased strain on pumps and other associated equipment. Left unattended, particularly in areas where the water is very hard, scale can quickly lead to a total blockage of various lines and pipes.

Polystabil scale inhibitors include a family of novel products that effectively control a wide variety of scales in industrial and municipal water systems. The products are specially formulated with polyacrylates, phosphonates and sulphonic acid acrylate copolymers and offer exceptional stabilization and dispersion properties. The innovative composition of Polystabil products ensures efficient scale inhibition over a wide range of system conditions.

ServicesAshland offers a variety of services which complement this product.

Customer Analytical Services

Ashland Water Technologies’ Customer Analytical Services team is dedicated to helping customers address the multitude of contaminants that can negatively impact the efficiency and reliability of their water-based systems. The team is made up of an experienced staff of analytical chemists, microbiologists and technicians and is supported by sophisticated testing equipment that provides rapid analysis and identification of contaminants beyond what may be accomplished with field-based methods. Key services provided by the team include fluid analysis, deposit analysis, microbiological analysis and metallurgical analysis.

Water Process Applications

Ashland Water Technologies’ Water Process Applications team is dedicated to helping customers improve the performance of their boiler, heating and cooling systems, and associated processes. The team supports customers worldwide from four technical centers that house extensive analytical capabilities and innovative process testing instrumentation. Using both laboratory bench and pilot scale equipment, the team can evaluate chemical and mechanical treatments and explore “what-if” scenarios under actual-use conditions. The hard data and insights gained during these evaluations allow Ashland to confidently recommend treatment strategies that ensure system efficiency.
