PerForm™ VMax 1000 mixing and injection system
Papermakers around the globe choose Ashland’s PerForm™ retention and drainage aids because of the high levels of retention, drainage and formation they provide. To ensure the proper application of these polymer products, Ashland recommends the use of a proprietary post-dilution system marketed as PerForm VMax 1000 mixing and injection system. The system, which comprises a distribution module and a mixing and injection assembly, ensures the optimal post-dilution of the polymer and the thorough mixing of the polymer with the paper furnish post-screen.
Key to the mixing and injection system is a novel and proprietary nozzle. The unique design of the nozzle allows for the use of white water for polymer post-dilution and allows for very high energy mixing of the polymer and stock. Post-dilution of the made-down polymer with high volumes of water at high velocity into the machine system significantly improves polymer and fiber interaction and reaction, yielding improved polymer efficiency and production gains. The ability to use white water in place of fresh water provides a number of benefits as well, most notably substantial fresh water and energy cost savings.

Customer Analytical Services
Ashland Water Technologies’ Customer Analytical Services team is dedicated to helping customers address the multitude of contaminants that can negatively impact the efficiency and reliability of their water-based systems. The team is made up of an experienced staff of analytical chemists, microbiologists and technicians and is supported by sophisticated testing equipment that provides rapid analysis and identification of contaminants beyond what may be accomplished with field-based methods. Key services provided by the team include fluid analysis, deposit analysis, microbiological analysis and metallurgical analysis.
Papermaking Services
Continuous pilot papermaking systems are the cornerstones of Ashland Water Technologies’ Papermaking Services group. The primary purpose of our papermaking operations is to provide papermakers with insights and solutions to problems and opportunities related to the effects of additives and system changes on wet-laid products and processes. Our facilities are equipped to conduct trials that predict commercial system performance.

Proprietary Nozzle Design
The unique internal geometry of Ashland’s proprietary nozzle generates multiple streams of both axial and radial vortices that emerge from the nozzle orifice. Each stream expands into a plume that entrains the surrounding liquid and folds the diluted polymer into low pressure regions, resulting in a more uniform and effective mixture. The nozzle enables the reuse of white water for post-dilution, providing the volume of water needed and high velocity required to achieve turbulent mixing of the polymer with the stock stream.
