FloGard* corrosion and deposition inhibitors
FloGard corrosion and deposition inhibitors are specifically designed for threshold inhibition of corrosion and deposition in once-through cooling water systems. Corrosion and deposition are common problems associated with these systems. If not properly controlled, corrosion of process equipment and mill piping can negatively impact equipment life, pumping efficiency and maintenance costs. Metals such as iron, manganese and calcium, which may be present in the mill water, can cause deposition. In particular, manganese deposition can cause significant loss of heat transfer in heat exchange equipment, lead to corrosion of stainless steel and cause fouling of process equipment.
Proper application of FloGard products extends the life of process equipment and piping and minimizes deposition that could otherwise cause production curtailment and/or require excess equipment cleaning. Most FloGard products are liquid and are fed neat into the fresh water after the clarifier. Since mill water flow rates may be quite high, these products are designed to be effective at very low feed rates. Specific blends are available to accommodate various FDA, potable and technical requirements.
