Our specialty ingredients plant in Columbus, Ohio, hosted more than 75 members from the Columbus Fire Department, HAZMAT team, Local Emergency Planning Committee and bomb squad. "The event provided an opportunity for the plant’s emergency response team to meet key public emergency response personnel, fostering a spirit of cooperation and understanding," said Phil Popovec, plant manager. the visitors were given a detailed plant tour as well as an overview of plant operations, critical safety systems and emergency response plans. Topics covered included the plant’s fire protection systems, muster points and deployment area options. "The responders were appreciative of the opportunity to increase their awareness of the types of chemicals and processes at the plant along with the opportunity to see situations they might encounter first-hand," said Popovec. |
