Our plants in Greensboro, N.C., and Beckley, W.Va., teamed up to host Safety Day, reinforcing key messages and recognizing award-worthy performances that support a Zero Incident Culture.
"This event demonstrated our strong commitment to everyone's safety," said Rod Bolton, regional plant manager. "Nothing we do is more important than working and going home safe every day."
The Greensboro site was celebrating 18 months without a recordable injury and Beckley had hit the 20-month mark. Individual safety performance was also highlighted. Greensboro warehouse employee Christopher Lightsey was named Safety Employee of the Year, and Greensboro quality control technician Anthony Kimber won the prize for Out-of-the-Box Safety Idea. His award-winning idea was to place a flashing light outside the plant doors as a do-not-enter alert while mixing hazardous materials.
Activities included safety training from Superior Carriers and local firefiighters, a forklift rodeo and various drills.
The Greensboro plant manufactures liquid polymers, coagulants, flocculants and dispersants. Beckley produces water flocculants and dispersant polymers.
