Diversity and Inclusion Steering Council


Ashland has a Global Diversity and Inclusion Steering Council that includes key business leaders and representatives, championed by our Chairman and CEO Jim O’Brien. In 2009, Ashland adopted a two-year plan to address key issues facing Ashland in enhancing and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Ashland’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Steering Council is responsible for:

  • Designing, developing and driving a diversity and inclusion strategy
  • Communicating of our diversity and inclusion vision as a strategic objective aligned with desired business outcomes
  • Developing metrics and tracking progress to drive accountability
  • Reinforcing management behavioral transformation
  • Serving as diversity and inclusion champions through consistent and ongoing messaging and modeling
  • Ensuring sustainability by linking to other organizational initiatives, systems and processes
