At Ashland, community involvement means more than becoming members of the community; it also means acknowledging that we have a responsibility to do the right thing and honor our pledge to maintain our status as good corporate citizens. Click here to read a copy of our latest

Volunteerism
Ashland employees and retirees serve as teachers, mentors, advisers, consultants and counselors throughout their communities. We feed the hungry, raise funds for medical research, build and repair homes for those in need and clean up riverbanks, roadways and other dump sites. We're Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentors, Junior Achievement advisers, leadership trainers, providers of meals to the homebound, and volunteer firefighters.
Employee Giving Campaign
In 2006, Ashland began supporting its communities' health and human services initiatives in the U.S. through an annual, companywide Employee Giving Campaign in which employee donations are matched dollar-for-dollar. We believe this provides a means of reaching the greatest number of people - families, friends and neighbors.
Community Care Day
In 2005, about 75 Dublin, Ohio, employees joined thousands of volunteers from other area companies and state agencies for Central Ohio's Community Care Day. Our employees performed yard work and general maintenance for three area schools. This was Ashland's 15th year of participation.
Habitat for Humanity
Ashland helps Habitat for Humanity make the dream of home ownership come true. Each year employees participate in local Habitat builds. Ashland also supports Habitat for Humanity though financial and in-kind contributions.
Enhancing the Environment
Ashland is a corporate sponsor of Ohio River Sweep, an annual project to rid trash and debris from 3,000 miles of Ohio River and tributary shoreline in partnership with state agencies, community groups and others. Involving approximately 20,000 Ohio River Valley citizens, more than 100,000 tons of trash and debris has been collected since River Sweep was founded in 1989. Thanks to our efforts elsewhere, wildlife has returned to areas that were previously used for oil production, and in Spain, Ashland works as a corporate sponsor to clean seabeds along the coastal area of Benicarló. |
