| Accountable |
Accountability directs and flows through everything we do - from every ethical, financial and compliance-related decision to our day-to-day business activities and ongoing environmental, health and safety (EH&S) initiatives.
It means taking responsibility for our decisions, actions and obligations as a company and as individual employees, from the boardroom to the job site.
Accountability reinforces the link between performance and compensation at Ashland. It drives our approach to creating a unified, high-performance business culture at company facilities around the globe.
Holding ourselves accountable for reaching and maintaining our goals is key to Ashland's long-term success - and we're keeping track. We monitor and compare performance to objectives through scorecards and aggressive metrics. We continually measure and evaluate compliance issues ranging from in-house business responsibility training to the financial control and reporting requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
We promote continual improvement, safety and product stewardship through in-house and external initiatives, such as ISO9001 and ISO14001 certification and the American Chemistry Council's Responsible CareŽ Guiding Principles.
We are implementing the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) companywide and are undergoing third-party, independent certification on the effectiveness of our environmental, heath and safety efforts.
Accountability requires making sound, fact-based decisions and adhering to the highest ethical, regulatory, environmental and operating standards. It involves assessing the impact of every decision on our customers and shareholders - of acting with honesty and integrity in all circumstances. It means adding value to everything we touch.
