Mr. Shannon is vice president of Ashland Inc. and president, Ashland Supply Chain. In this role, he is responsible for creating common, global supply chain processes and leading the integration of these most critical customer-centric processes across Ashland's four divisions: Ashland Distribution, Ashland Performance Materials, Valvoline and Ashland Water Technologies.
Mr. Shannon joined Ashland in 1984 as a process engineer at Ashland Composite Polymers’ plant in Philadelphia, Pa. He was promoted in 1987 to assistant manufacturing director for this business group. Since then, he has served in Planning and Development, Purchasing and several positions within Composite Polymers, including business manager for this business group’s base resin distribution unit and as manufacturing director. In 2000, he was promoted to the position of vice president and general manager of Ashland’s Petrochemical business, with oversight for the Engineering Department. He was promoted to senior vice president, Thermoset Resins (now known as Ashland Performance Materials), in August, 2002, and was named executive vice president of Ashland’s supply chain in June, 2005. He was named to his current position in October, 2006.
A native of West Chester, Pa., Mr. Shannon earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in business administration from Temple University. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School's executive development program. |
