Report Profile

Ashland’s online report describes the programs and performance of Ashland and its businesses. Our report includes environmental and safety data from our global operations in the 100 countries where we operate. Ashland maintains majority ownership in all reporting facilities. No joint ventures, subsidiaries, leased facilities, outsourced operations or enterprises are included in the report unless they are majority owned. The information in this report is supplemented by other Ashland reports and documents, including the annual report, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings and the Ashland.com website. Our online report cannot tell the whole story of Ashland, which is why we encourage our stakeholders to review all information resources.

Ashland has transitioned to the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4.0 framework and is reporting in accordance with the "Core" option. Our GRI Content Index is provided in the report to facilitate access to information. The scope, boundary and measurements methods applied in this report have not significantly changed from previous reports.

Ashland encourages and values feedback from our stakeholders. To provide feedback or request additional information, please contact:

Our Precautionary Approach

Ashland supports the intent of the Precautionary Principle with regard to risk management. We have established formal programs throughout our organization to identify potential impacts from risks and develop appropriate action plans to mitigate those risks. Our risk management program covers all aspects of our operations – from design of our operations and product development and production through the distribution of our products to our customers.

Ashland's commitment to environmental, health and safety excellence is reflected in our Responsible Care program and implementation of the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) throughout our global operations. We are currently enhancing RCMS by implementing the Product and Process Safety Codes that will further strengthen our risk management processes.

Through ACC’s third-party RCMS certification program, Ashland’s risk management programs have been successfully audited and validated.
