Ashland believes in treating people with dignity and respect, including those outside the company. We are firmly committed to conducting business throughout the world in accordance with the highest legal and ethical rules and principles. Ashland’s Global Standards of Business Conduct is the cornerstone of this commitment and sets the standards for our actions. It was established as a guide to help employees understand the company’s expectations and alert them to potential legal and ethical issues. Employees are encouraged to promptly report any potential violations of our Code of Business Conduct to the Law Department or through our Employee Hotline, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Employee Rights

Ashland is committed to maintaining a professional and safe work environment, free from violence, intimidation, discrimination and harassment. Our policy is driven by our respect for the dignity ofthe individual and our commitment to treating all persons equitably. Ashland investigates all credible complaints of discrimination brought to the attention of management in an expedient and non-retaliatory manner. Any employee who is found to have engaged in harassment or discrimination according to our policy, or to have misused their positions of authority in this regard are subject to immediate disciplinary measures, up to and including dismissal.

Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining

Ashland respects and honors our employees’ free choices and complies with all federal and state workplace laws and regulations including those associated with labor organizing activities. Approximately, 12 percent of our operations are covered by collective bargaining agreements.  At several of our European locations, work councils are established which require employers to provide company information for review and to engage in worker consultation on certain company decisions.

Child Labor

Ashland abides by child labor laws and does not employ underage workers in its worldwide operations.

Forced and Compulsory Labor

Ashland does not use forced or compulsory labor in any of its operations.
