Polyurethane structural adhesives
Pliogrip polyurethane adhesives are pre-polymerized systems with excellent chemical and moisture resistance when cured. The prepolymer technology reduces the amount of free isocyanate, reduces the reaction exotherm, and ensures the formation of consistent and predictable end products. Polyurethane adhesives can have strong adhesion performance on most materials. Corrosion-inhibiting primers are recommended for most bare metals. Key features and benefits of Pliogrip polyurethane adhesives are as follows:
● Excellent fatigue performance and impact strength
● Chemical thixotropy allows low viscosity in the prepolymer and curative yet offering sag performance when mixed and applied, thereby vertical and high speed application
● Gravity feed simplifies mix-dispense and feed systems
● Open times up to 45 minutes
● Sandable and paintable
● No degassing or bondline foaming
● Compatible with anticorrosive coatings
● Polyurethanes typically cannot withstand standard automotive e-coat bakes (400ºF/204ºC), but consider Pliogrip 7400/7410 for bake temperatures up to 374ºF/190°C
● Bonds polypropylene and other TPO plastics with surface treatment such as flame, plasma, or corona treatment, or use of an adhesion promoter
Pliogrip 7400/76XX: 1:1 ratio (by volume) ambient-cure urethane with improved read-through performance. Available in work times from 30 seconds to 35 minutes. Sandable and paintable. Pliogrip 7400 including its 7700 cartridge packaging are offered in a variety of cure times and colors (see the Pliogrip Cartridge Product Guide). Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk or cartridge. Pliogrip 7400/7410: 1:1 ratio (by volume) heat-cure urethane formulated for higher body than the 7400/76XX materials. Withstands moderate e-coat processes up to 190°C. 10-12 minute open time. Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk only.
Pliogrip 8500: 1:1 ratio (by volume) urethane for ambient-cure or heat-cure bonding of open and closed mold composites and to e-coated metals. A more robust alternative to Pliogrip 7400/76XX, often eliminating the need for surface preparation such as scuff-sanding. Currently available in 5 minute and 10 minute open time curatives. Bonds RTM and open mold. Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk or cartridge. More...
Pliogrip 9100: A 1.2 :1 ratio (by volume) robust heat-cure urethane adhesive designed for fast cycle times with heated fixtures. Pliogrip 9100 is best-in-industry for bonding SMC and e-coat in high-volume SMC programs when hot-air impingement fixtures are used. Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk only. More...
Pliogrip 9400: A 1.1 :1 ratio (by volume) hybrid-cure urethane adhesive with lower modulus, Pliogrip 9400 cures and performs in high heat, low heat, and ambient-cure applications. In ambient-cure applications, 9400/9405 has lower modulus and exhibits better specific adhesion than Pliogrip 7400/76XX. Only available in a 5-minute work time (at 74ºF/23ºC). Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk only. More...
Pliogrip 6600 & 8000: 3.5:1 ratio (by volume) systems for ambient-cure or heat-cure. Pliogrip 6600 or 8000 prepolymers may be paired with Pliogrip 66XX curatives. 8000 is an improved version of 6600 with better moisture tolerance and improved performance characteristics. Pliogrip 6600 and 8000 are our longest on the market, and their performance has been surpassed by newer urethane systems. Low viscosity for gravity-feed. Bulk only.
